Initially, Frank Janette established the business as an installer and manufacturer of septic tanks, becoming one of the largest in the area. In the late 1970s, they expanded to offer residential excavating services, including digging basements for residential homes, final grading of residential properties, and installing septic fields. By the end of the 1980s, they branched into commercial excavating. The company prides itself on traditions and beliefs, with the majority of its work coming from referrals. Their technicians are trained to evaluate various septic systems. Janette & Sons Excavating was named the 2015 Business of the Year by the Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce.
